Thanks in part to support from the United Way, the St. Louis Area Foodbank distributed 25 million pounds of food to those in need in the bi-state region last year. The university community can help the United Way support the Foodbank and other organizations by contributing to the 2012 United Way campaign.

David M. Walker, former U.S. comptroller general, will bring his “$10 Million a Minute Tour” promoting national fiscal responsibility to the Danforth Campus Tuesday, Sept. 18. Walker, CEO of the Comeback America Initiative, is leading the bus tour to bring focus to the economic and fiscal challenges facing the United States.

Tenor Kyle Erdos-Knapp will return to St. Louis to present Franz Schubert’s beloved song cycle Die schöne Müllerin. The performance, which begins at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 16, is the annual Liederabend, sponsored by the departments of Music and Germanic Languages and Literatures, both in Arts & Sciences.

The legacy of Jim McLeod will be honored with the dedication of McLeod’s Way at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, in Graham Chapel. McLeod’s Way is a new landscaped gathering place located on the South 40.
Memorial services will be held this month for two WUSTL students who recently died — Emily Benatar and Gabrielle Reuveni. A service for Benatar will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 23, in College Hall on the South 40. A service for Reuveni will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 30, in May Auditorium, Simon Hall.

The football team dropped to 0-2 following a 20-17 loss at Rhodes College last weekend. Linebacker Fade Oluokun made a career-high 16 tackles in the loss, while defensive lineman Tommy O’Hern added a career-best 10 stops. Defensive lineman William Small also had a career game with nine tackles and a sack. The Bears face Coe College tomorrow at 1 p.m. at Francis Field.
